CLOSER'S SOPHIE HYDE FINALIST FOR DIGITAL PORTRAITURE AWARD 2016!

Very excited to announce that our own Sophie Hyde has been nominated for the National Portrait Gallery's Digital Portraiture Award for 2016, amongst a group of 7 of Australia's finest artists.
The nomination is for one of the video portraits that formed a part of TO LOOK AWAY, a commission of 5 moving portraits by Carriageworks in Sydney. The work drew inspiration from 19th century European art, and was produced with partners Restless Dance Theatre, and supported by Arts SA.
Sophie has been nominated for the award for her piece featuring 52 TUESDAYS star, Tilda Cobham-Hervey. Congrats to Soph, Til, and all the other finalists!
The prize will be announced on the 2nd of December. The winner receives $10,000 and a residency at The Edge, the State Library of Queensland’s digital culture centre for experimentation in science, art, technology and enterprise. All of the finalists work will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, and will also be available to view online from the 2nd.
